Dominican Blowout: How Long It Lasts and How to Care for It
A Dominican blowout leaves curly or wavy hair smooth, shiny and full of movement without chemicals. Done well and cared for at home, it lasts about a week, often more.

Our blowouts

How it is done
Your hair is washed and deep conditioned, set on rollers and dried under the dryer. Then the stylist blow-dries it section by section with a round brush and high heat to smooth it from root to end. Some clients finish with a light pass of the flat iron.
How long it lasts
Usually about one to two weeks, depending on your hair, the weather and how you sleep on it. Humidity, rain, sweat and washing are what bring the curl back.
Wrap it every night
Before bed, comb your hair around your head (a wrap or "tubi") and hold it with pins, then cover it with a silk or satin scarf. In the morning, take out the pins and brush it down. A satin pillowcase also helps.
Protect it from humidity
Carry an umbrella, avoid steam in the shower with a shower cap, and keep a scarf handy for rainy days. If you work out, tie it up and use a headband.
Between visits
Skip daily flat-ironing. Use a little dry shampoo at the roots if needed and a drop of serum on the ends. When it starts to frizz, it is time for the next blowout.
Keep your hair healthy
Regular deep conditioning and trimming the ends keep the blowout shiny and avoid heat damage. Ask your stylist how often your hair can take it.
